A fool-proof guide to prepare for a spray tan. The secret behind any good spray tan is the preparation. Exfoliate Try to do this a couple of days before your tan. Although you might not be able to see your dry skin, we do all have it, usually in places like our ankles, knees, elbows, wrists and our neck. Hair Removal Be it waxing or shaving, we want the skin to feel fresh with no irritation. After hair removal, give yourself at least 8 hours between hair removal and tan application. Moisturise Moisturising your body (with an oil-free formula) the day before your tan is a great way to prolong your tan. You can apply a small, pea-sized, amount to those extra dry places we mentioned earlier if you think they need it. Clothing Nothing ruins a fresh spray tan quite like tight clothing. Steer clear of bras, tight underwear and socks. Grab a pair of loose tracksuit bottoms, an old dark top and sandals. Bathing after a spray tan After waiting the amount of time recommended by your beauty therapist, you should bathe until the water runs clear. Avoid using any soap or body was for this initial shower. Applying as much fragrance free body moisturiser as your body requires. We recommend Boots fragrance Free Body Moisturiser as a budget option, or Aveeno Daily moisturiser. Most brands like Dove have strong chemicals that can strip a spray tan off if used soon after.
